Welcome to Faith Seeking Understanding, my personal journey towards a deeper knowledge of and intimacy with God, the cosmos, humanity and myself through thoughts, words and (occasionally) images.
This post is the beginning of a challenge for me: inspired by Jonas Ellison of On Living (a collection of posts collected on Medium.com), I have decided to blog daily on Medium as the next stage of my development as a storycrafter and a theologian. Although I was introduced to him via the article “I’m a Christian (and Jesus is not the only way),” the article that really got my attention was “How one year of daily blogging changed my life.”
I’m already a fan of daily writing. I write consistently, even though I occasionally miss a day. I have been in the habit of writing in my journal on a regular basis, often thousands of words a day of insights and impressions, fears and fantasies, aspirations and accomplishments. So far, the only audience has been me, myself and I. (Or, I guess one could count God, especially since I end up addressing God on a regular basis in the midst of my written, existential crises.)
But now is the time for me to step out into the world and share my life with others through the written word. Thus, I launch this project. My hope is to write at least two sentences a day, hoping that most days I will be moved to write more. But I can handle two sentences a day. And, since I have been reading about how setting small goals can lead to big progress over time, I feel this will be enough of a commitment without scaring myself off at the outset.
Thank you for going on this journey with me. I have no idea where it will lead, but I have faith that it will lead me into a greater understanding of myself, humanity, the cosmos and God. May it similarly inspire you on your own journey.
Thank you for your time and attention.
I’d love to know your thoughts on what you’ve read.

May God richly bless you on your journey.
