Faith seeking understanding #048: On finding words in the midst of a paradox

Faith seeking understanding, my personal journey towards a deeper knowledge of and intimacy with God, the cosmos, humanity and myself through thoughts, words and (occasionally) images, is a series of [hopefully] daily reflections I’m writing with the purpose of publishing something on a regular basis for others to read, either here, at joncarllewis.com or among my writings at Medium.com.

Tonight, I’m feeling a paradox.

I feel both driven to write and avoidant of doing the same.

I feel like my words are needed and I feel like I have nothing of value to say.

I am perplexed.

Tonight is no different than any other night.

Tonight’s blank page is no different than any other night’s blank page.

But, still, I have paused. Hesitated. Wondered

If it might not be the better part of valor to take a pass

Or crank out some filler.

Today has been a world filled with words.

None of them has been mine

Until now.

And, so long as they are honest words,

That is enough.

Thank you for your time and attention.
I’d love to know your thoughts on what you’ve read.

May God richly bless you on your journey.
